Meyer von Schauensee, Franz (Joseph Leonti) (1720–1789)

Swiss organist and composer. He studied in Lucerne and Milan, and after a period of military service, 1742–44, returned to Lucerne as a civil servant and musician. Ordained priest in 1752, he became organist of the collegiate church, and choirmaster in 1762. He founded the Lucerne college of music in 1760.
