Meyer von Schauensee, Franz (Joseph Leonti) (1720–1789)

Swiss organist and composer. He studied in Lucerne and Milan, and after a period of military service, 1742–44, returned to Lucerne as a civil servant and musician. Ordained priest in 1752, he became organist of the collegiate church, and choirmaster in 1762. He founded the Lucerne college of music in 1760.

Singspiele Hans Hüttenstock and others; masses and other church music; arias; instrumental music.
