Meyerowitz, Jan (1913–1998)

German-born US composer. He studied in Berlin with Zemlinsky and Rome with Respighi. He moved to the USA in 1946, and became a US citizen in 1951.

The Barrier (1950), Eastward in Eden (1951), Esther (1957), Godfather Death (1961), Winterballade (1967).

Orchestral

Silesian Symphony (1957), oboe concerto (1963), six pieces for orchestra (1967).

Other

Cantatas on texts by Emily Dickinson, Cummings and Herrick; chamber music.
