Miamisburg

City in Montgomery County, southwestern Ohio; population (1990) 17,800. Miamisburg stands on the Miami River, 16 km/10 mi south of Dayton.

Miamisburg was founded in 1818 in the heart of a tobacco-growing region. Its agriculture has since diversified, and its industries turn out metal and paper products. The Mound Plant, a facility manufacturing components for nuclear weapons, is situated here. A large site of the ancient Moundbuilder culture is located outside Miamisburg.
