Michaels-Moore, Anthony (1957– )

English baritone. He studied with David Matthews and at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in Glasgow. He has sung at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden since 1987 (in Jenůfa, Boris Godunov and Rigoletto) and in the English National Opera ensemble since 1987 (as Zurga, Marcello, and Mozart's Count (1991)). He made his US debut at Philadelphia in 1989, as Guglielmo and sang in the Missa Solemnis at Los Angeles. In 1993 he opened the season at La Scala as Licinius in La Vestale and sang Verdi's Posa for Opera North, where he has also sung Escamillo and Figaro. He created the role of Don Ferdinand in the stage premiere of Gerhard's The Duenna (Madrid, 1992).
