An enduring icon of the Walt Disney Company, Mickey is characterized by black disc-shaped ears and white gloves. He made his film debut in Plane Crazy and starred in the first synchronized sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie (1928).

The comic book Mickey Mouse Weekly started in 1936 and ran 920 issues. Mickey Mouse also appeared in the feature-length animated films Fantasia (1940), Fun and Fancy Free (1947), and The Simple Things (1953).
