Middle River

River in south-central Iowa, length 169 km/105 mi. It rises in the southwest of Guthrie County, and flows first southeast, then east-northeast, to join the Des Moines River southeast of Des Moines.

Middle River

Industrial and residential suburb in Baltimore County, northern Maryland; population (1990) 24,600. Middle River stands at the head of the estuarial river of the same name, 14 km/9 mi east of downtown Baltimore.

Middle River was formerly the site of the Glenn L Martin aircraft plant, one of the world's main aeroplane manufacturers in the 1920s-30s. The town now contains boat-repair basins and industrial parks, and is home to the Glenn L Martin State Airport.
