Midgley, Walter (1914-1980)

English tenor. He sang with the Carl Rosa chorus before World War II and from 1945 was heard at Sadler's Wells, as Rodolfo, Turiddu, and Almaviva. In 1947 he had much success at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London as Calaf. He continued to appear at Covent Garden until 1853 as Alfredo, Manrico, and Cavaradossi. With Glynderbourne he sang the role of Macduff (Edinburgh, 1947).
