Midsomer Norton

Midsomer Norton

Town in Bath and North East Somerset, England, 14 km/9 mi southwest of Bath; population (2001) 10,450. Midsomer Norton was once a mining town in the Somerset coalfield, which is now unproductive. In the tower of the church of St John the Baptist are three bells presented by Charles II.

Nearby are the Benedictine abbey of St Gregory and Downside School (at Stratton-on-Fosse).
