The time of the summer solstice, about 21 June. Midsummer Day, 24 June, is the Christian festival of St John the Baptist.

This Swedish-American fraternal organization accepts as members all people who express a high interest in things Swedish and provides cultural programs, celebrations such as Lucia and Midsommar (done together with the UO's Friends of Scandinavian and the Sons of Norway), scholarships and other benefits.
A Midsommar (that's Swedish) meander to the wildest and furthest tip of Scotland provided superb routes on which to reassess one of the S40 saloons I had driven a few weeks ago -- as well as a first introduction to the equally stylish V50 Sportswagons.
And what better time to celebrate than late June -- or as the Swedes call it, Midsommar -- with its mystical ``white'' light summer nights and first harvest of fresh home-grown produce.
