Mifune, Toshirō (1920-1997)

Japanese film actor. He was known for his portrayal of samurai and appeared in many films directed by Akira Kurosawa, including Rashōmon (1950), Shichinin no samurai/Seven Samurai (1954), and Kumonosu-jō/Throne of Blood (1957). He also occasionally appeared in European and US films, such as Grand Prix (1966) and Hell in the Pacific (1969).

He performed in the classic US television serial Shogun (1980).
