Milanov (originally Kunc), Zinka (1906-1989)

Yugoslav soprano. She studied first in Zagreb and then with Ternina, and Carpi in Prague, making her debut in Ljubljana in 1927 as the Trovatore Leonora. From 1928 to 1935 she sang in Zagreb and from 1937 her career until 1966 centred on the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, where her roles included Norma, Donna Anna, Tosca, and Gioconda. She was especially known for her interpretration of Verdi's roles.
