Millbrook

Village within Washington township, Dutchess County, southeastern New York State, 21 km/13 mi northeast of Poughkeepsie; population (1990) 1,300.

Formerly an artists'colony, Millbrook is now a favourite country retreat for wealthy residents of New York City, which lies some 100 km/62 mi to the south. There are a number of sumptuous estates around the village. A winery is situated nearby, and the Mary Flagler Cary Arboretum lies to the west.
