Milian, Christina (1981– )

US pop singer, songwriter, and actor. Her self-titled debut album featured the hit singles ‘AM to PM’ and ‘Get Away’, a collaboration with rap artist Ja Rule (1976– ). She followed with It's About Time (2004). Films include Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003), Torque (2004), and Cheer Up (2004).

She made her singing and songwriting debut with ‘Between Me and You’ for Ja Rule's album Rule 3:36 (2000). She wrote the hit single ‘Play’ for Jennifer Lopez for her album J Lo (2001), and went on to become the host of the popular MTV series Wannabes in 2002.

She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and grew up in Waldorf, Maryland. Her parents were Cuban immigrants. She launched her entertainment career as a junior journalist on the Disney Channel's Movie Surfers. After moving to California she appeared in the musical Annie Warbucks, and made guest appearances on the TV series Charmed, Clueless, and Sister Sister. Other films include A Bug's Life (1998; voiceover), American Pie (1999), and The Wood (1999).
