Mill, Arnold van (1921– )

Dutch bass. He made his debut in Brussels in 1946. He sang in a revival of Spontini's Agnes von Hohenstaufen at Florence, in 1953, and in the same year joined the Hamburg Opera. He appeared at Bayreuth 1951–60, as Hunding, Daland, and Fafner and recorded the role of Marke under Solti. He appeared as guest at Berlin, Edinburgh, and Rio de Janeiro, as Zaccaria, Osmin, and Abul Hassan in Cornelius' Barbier von Bagdad.
