Millau

Millau

French town in the département of Aveyron, 50 km/31 mi south of Rodez, on the River Tarn; population (1999) 21,400. Its industries include the manufacture of gloves, leather goods, and furniture. There is a 14th–16th-century church and a Gothic belfry. In the 16th–17th centuries it was a Huguenot religious stronghold. It is close to the Tarn Gorge and other tourist sites.
