Millbrae

City in San Mateo County, north-central California; population (1990) 20,400. Millbrae stands on the western shore of San Francisco Bay, 21 km/13 mi south of San Francisco, and just southwest of San Francisco International Airport.

Millbrae was founded in 1866, and named after the country estate of banker and mining tycoon Darius Ogden Mills. It has some light industry, but is largely a commuter suburb.
