Mills, Enos Abijah (1870-1922)

US naturalist and author. A writer, lecturer, mountain guide, and, from 1901, innkeeper (his Long's Peak Inn became a haven for nature lovers), his lobbying efforts led to the establishment of the Rocky Mountain National Park in 1915.

Born near Kansas City, Kansas, Mills originally went to Colorado for his health at age 14 and settled in a homesteader's cabin at the foot of Long's Peak. A chance meeting with John Muir turned him to the systematic study of natural history.
