Mills Brothers

US vocal group. They specialized in close-harmony vocal imitations of instruments, and comprised John Mills Jr (1910-1936), Herbert Mills (1912-1988), Harry Mills (1913-1982), and Donald Mills (1915-1999). Formed in 1922, the group first broadcast on radio in 1925, and continued to perform until the 1950s. Their 70 hits include ‘Lazy River’ (1948) and ‘You Always Hurt the One You Love’ (1944).

Their father John Mills Sr replaced John Jr after his sudden death in 1936.
