Miloš Obrenovich

    0.03 sec.

Miloš Obrenovich (1780–1860)

Serbian prince 1816–39 and 1859–60, founder of the Obrenovich dynasty. He played a leading role in Karageorge's rising against the Turks in 1804, but when Kara George escaped to Austria in 1813, Miloš established himself as ruler of Serbia under Turkish suzerainty. In 1839 Russian intrigues forced his abdication, but he returned as prince on Alexander Karageorgevich's deposition.
