ossification

Process whereby bone is formed in vertebrate animals by special cells (osteoblasts) that secrete layers of extracellular matrix on the surface of the existing cartilage. Conversion to bone occurs through the deposition of calcium phosphate crystals within the matrix.

There is marked increased calcium, strengthened and mineralization of bones.
Both vitamins are coenzymes of gammaglutamyl carboxylase and are thus able to regulate mineralization of bone and calcification of blood vessels.
These functions range from protein synthesis to building muscle mass, calcium retention to mineralization of bones, stimulating the immune system to maintaining fuel homeostasis, etc.
