Minnedosa

Town in southwestern Manitoba, situated in the Minnedosa River valley, 47 km/29 mi north of Brandon; population (1991) 2,500.

In the late 1880s, Minnedosa was a popular area among buffalo hunters, and was also a major supplier of grain. Today it is a resort; local industries include the manufacture of farm equipment and the distilling of ethyl alcohol from grain.

LAST HALF-HOUR TEAL Hunting partner Dave Kovacic, and my wife-to-be, Mary, had gone freelancing the Minnedosa pothole country early one October back in the 1970s.
The study was conducted over two breeding seasons on small wetlands in the prairie-parkland region south of Minnedosa, Manitoba, Canada.
Another day was spent at Minnedosa lake beach playing frisbee, sunbathing and swimming before exploring more history, this time on one of the trails across Canada used by old explorers.
