Minnehaha County

Administrative district in the southeast of South Dakota 2,098 sq km/810 sq mi, population (1990) 123,800. The county is by far the most populous in the state. Its seat and major city is at Sioux Falls.

Minnehaha County is bounded on the east by Minnesota and on the southeast by Iowa, and is drained by the Big Sioux River. Together with its suburbs, the city of Sioux Falls dominates this historically agricultural region.
