Minogue, Kylie Ann

    0.02 sec.

Minogue, Kylie Ann (1968– )

Australian pop singer and actor. She started her career as an actress, achieving her first major role as Charlene in the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours. After initial musical success in the late 1980s she struggled to find her place in the industry. However, her return in 2001 with the worldwide hit single ‘Can't Get You Out of My Head’ and the accompanying album Fever propelled her to a peak of international success.

Her music career began after she sang a cover of Little Eva's 1960s hit ‘Loco-Motion’ at a charity event, and her recording of the single went to number one in Australia in July 1987. Managed by London-based pop producers Stock, Aitken, and Waterman 1987–91, she achieved a string of number one hits in Australia and the UK, including ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ (1988) from her debut album Kylie. Having shed her wholesome, girl-next-door look by the end of the 1990s, she achieved mass media coverage with a sexier image, a string of pop dance hits, and significant album sales with albums such as Body Language (2003).

Born in Melbourne, she started her acting career at the age of 12, appearing in the Australian series Skyways and The Henderson Kids. She appeared in several films, including The Delinquents (1989), Street Fighter (1994), and Moulin Rouge (2001). She introduced her own line of lingerie, ‘Love Kylie’, in 2003.
