Minoka-Hill, Lillie Rose (1876-1952)

US physician. Minoka-Hill practised a combination of Western and American Indian medicine. The daughter of a Mohawk mother and a Philadelphia physician, she was born and raised on the St Regis reservation, New York, until age 5, then was educated in Philadelphia. She attended the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania (graduating 1899). She worked at a clinic and in private practice before marrying an Oneida, Charles Hill, in 1905. He took her to his farm in Oneida, Wisconsin, expecting her to give up her career, but gradually she returned to practising medicine.
