Minster in Thanet

Town in northeast Kent, England, west of Ramsgate. Agriculture is the chief occupation. The town derives its name from the nunnery founded in the 7th century by Domneva, niece of King Egbert. Minster in Thanet has a 12th-century monastic house, and a Norman church with a dressed-chalk vault.
