Mintz, Beatrice

Mintz, Beatrice (Stein) (1921– )

US embryologist. A major figure in the study of experimental genetic control of skin pigment phenotypes in mouse embryo chimeras, she also explored the implications of totipotency in mouse tumour cells.

Born in New York, New York, Mintz taught at the University of Chicago (1946–60), before joining the Fox Chase Institute of Cancer Research in Philadelphia (1960).
