Minusinsk

Town in Krasnoyarsk krai (territory) in southern Siberia, Russian Federation; population (2001 est) 71,000. Minusinsk is located 165 km/102 mi south of Krasnoyarsk on the Yenisey River, and is the centre of the Minusinsk Basin. It has a port, and varied food industries.

Minusinsk was established in 1822. There is a renowned museum of local archaeology and history (founded in 1877). Lenin spent three years (1897-1900) of exile in the nearby village of Shushenskoye.
