Miramar

Northern district of San Diego, California, located 19 km/12 mi from the city centre on Kearney Mesa.

Formerly the site of the Scripps family's Miramar Ranch in the 1890s, the suburb now has both residential areas and an aerospace manufacturing plant. United States International University (founded 1952) and Miramar College (founded 1969) are situated here, and Miramar Naval Air Station lies immediately to the south.

Miramar

City in Broward County, southeastern Florida; population (1990) 40,700. Situated midway between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Miramar lies 8 km/5 mi west-southwest of central Hollywood and 16 km/10 mi inland from the Atlantic Ocean. A residential and retirement community, it expanded rapidly in the 1960s.

Miramar

Neighbourhood in the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan; population (1990) 5,300. Miramar is a subdistrict (subbarrio) of Santurce, and is situated south of the Laguna de Condado and east of Isla Grande and its airport.

Of the capital's newer neighbourhoods, Miramar lies closest to the old part of the city. It is a hilly district of modern residences mixed with a range of businesses.
