Miricioiu, Nelly (1952- )

Romanian soprano. She sang the Queen of Night at Iasi in 1974 and appeared with Braşov Opera 1975-78. In 1981 she sang Tosca and Violetta at Scottish Opera and form 1982 performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, as Nedda, Musetta, Marguerite, and Antonia. She has been engaged in the USA, at San Francisco and Philadelphia (where she sang Violetta in 1992). Other roles have included Rossini's Armida (Amsterdam, 1988) and Ameaide in Tancredi (Salzburg, 1992).
