Missenden, Great

Village in Buckinghamshire, England, 50 km/31 mi northwest of London; population (2001) 2,200. Missenden Abbey, founded in 1133 by William de Missenden and dissolved in 1538, was restored in the 19th century and is now an adult-education college. The parish church dates from the 13th century.
