Mission Hills

A largely residential district in the north of Los Angeles, California. It is situated in the San Fernando Valley, 31 km/19 mi northwest of the city centre and just southwest of San Fernando. It name comes from the founding here, in 1797, of the Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana. Pacoima lies to the east, and the Pacoima waterworks southeast. Mission Hills is also the name of a celebrated country club in Rancho Mirage, Riverside County, California, noted as a venue for golf and tennis tournaments.

Mission Hills

Exclusive residential district of uptown San Diego, California, 3 km/2 mi north of the city centre. The Old Town district lies immediately to the west, Middletown to the south, and Mission Valley to the north. Opulent mansions built here in the late 19th century for the local elite and wealthy vacationers from the East are home to some of the city's more affluent residents.

Mission Hills

City in Johnson County, northeastern Kansas, an affluent suburb of Kansas City, 10 km/6 mi south of the city centre; population (1990) 3,400.
