Mitchell, Arthur (1934-1990)

US dancer. He was director of the Dance Theater of Harlem, which he founded in 1968 with Karel Shook (1920- ). Mitchell was a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet 1956-68, creating many roles in Balanchine's ballets, such as Agon (1967).
