Mitchell, Juliet (1940– )

New Zealand-born British psychoanalyst and writer. Her article in New Left Review (1966) entitled ‘Women: The Longest Revolution’ was one of the first attempts to combine socialism and feminism, using Marxist theory to explain the reasons behind women's oppression. She published Women's Estate in 1971 and Psychoanalysis and Feminism in 1974.
