Moderne, Jacques (c. 1495-c. 1562)

French musician and publisher, possibly of Italian descent. He became maître de chapelle at the church of Notre-Dame du Confort at Lyon and in about 1530 established a printing-press there, publishing books of masses, motets, and chansons between 1532 and 1567, with contributions by various composers, including himself.
