Mangbetu

Member of a Bantu-speaking people living in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire). With a highly organized empire, they conquered many surrounding peoples during the 19th century. They engage particularly in sculpture, smithing, and dancing.

They had a custom of binding the heads of infants to produce a long, pointed shape to the skull.
