Mondale, Walter Frederick

Mondale, Walter Frederick (1928– )

US Democrat politician, unsuccessful presidential candidate in 1984. He was a senator 1965–77 for his home state of Minnesota, and vice president to Jimmy Carter 1977–81. After losing the 1984 presidential election to Ronald Reagan, Mondale retired from national politics to resume his law practice.
