Monk, Meredith (Jane) (1942– )

Peruvian-born US composer and singer. She studied at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, Ney York, and has appeared worldwide from 1978 with her vocal group Appearances. Her compositions are closely related to her work as an avant-garde performance artist. Her opera Atlas was given at Houston, Texas, in 1991.
