Monongahela

River in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, formed by the junction of the Tygart and West Fork rivers. It flows 205 km/128 mi northwards to the Allegheny, which it joins at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to form the Ohio River. it is surrounded by the Monongahela national forest. Navigable by means of locks, it is also harnessed for hydroelectric power.
