Monroe, Earl (‘the Pearl’) Vernon (1944- )

US basketball player. After playing at Winston-Salem State University (1964-67), he played as a guard for the Baltimore Bullets and then for the New York Knicks (1971-80), leading the team to a National Basketball Association championship in 1973. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
