Monroe, Harriet

Monroe, Harriet (1860–1936)

US poet and critic. She published several volumes of verse, but was better known as the founder and editor of Poetry 1912, the first US magazine devoted exclusively to verse.

She also collaborated in compiling The New Poetry 1917, an anthology of early 20th-century verse. Poets and their Art 1932 is a book of essays.
