Monteagle

Town in Grundy and Marion counties, southern Tennessee, on the Cumberland Plateau, 8 km/5 mi northeast of Sewanee; population (1990) 1,100. A summer resort and wine-growing centre, it is also home to Tennessee's largest Chautauqua (educational) organization.
