Montezuma I (c. 1390-1464)

Aztec emperor of Mexico from 1436. He extended the Mexican conquest, rebuilt Tenochtitlán, the chief Aztec city, erecting houses of lime and stone on the site of modern Mexico City, and developed the ceremonial of the tribal religion.
