Montpensier, Anne Marie Louise d'Orléans, Duchess of (1627–1693)

French noble, daughter of Gaston, brother of Louis XIII. She was an ambitious woman, whose aim was to marry Louis XIV, but she was defeated in this by Cardinal Mazarin.

As a result of this slight, she sided with the Fronde against the court, and later retired from public life for several years. In 1681 she married Duke de Lauzin. Her memoirs, first published 1729, cover the years 1630–88.
