Moore, Charles

    0.02 sec.

Moore, Charles (1925–1993)

US architect with an eclectic approach to design. He was an early exponent of postmodernism in, for example, his students' housing for Kresge College, University of California at Santa Cruz, 1973–74, and the Piazza d'Italia in New Orleans, 1975–78, which is one of the key monuments of postmodernism.

Sea Ranch, California 1964–65, one of his earliest projects, is in the vernacular timber tradition. At Kresge College he created a stage set of streets and forums. The Piazza d'Italia was built for the local Italian community and has a fountain in the shape of Italy.
