Moore, Eliakim Hastings

Moore, Eliakim Hastings (1862–1932)

US mathematician. Founder and chairman of the University of Chicago mathematics department (1896–1931), he helped shape the university and was a noted ‘teacher of teachers.’ He is also known for work in integral equations and general analysis and as a key shaper of 20th-century mathematics. Moore was born in Marietta, Ohio.
