Moorestown

Township in Burlington County, south-central New Jersey, 14 km/9 mi northeast of Camden; population (1990) 16,100.

Settled by Pennsylvania Quakers in 1682, Moorestown served for a time (1776) as the headquarters of Hessian forces during the Revolutionary War. This largely residential suburb of Camden and Philadelphia has manufactures that include chemicals, electronic equipment, and wood and metal products.
