Mooresville

Town in Morgan County, west-central Indiana, 16 km/10 mi southwest of Indianapolis; population (1990) 5,500.

Settled in 1824, in a grain, fruit, and dairy farming area, Mooresville manufactures paint, stone mausoleums, flour, and engine bearings. Early baseball star Amos Rusie (‘the Hoosier Thunderbolt’) was born here in 1871.

Town in Iredell County, west-central North Carolina, 37 km/23 mi north-northeast of Charlotte; population (1990) 9,300. Cotton goods and furniture are its chief products.
