Mordkovitch, Lydia (1950– )

Russian-born violinist. She studied with David Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatory and emigrated to Israel 1974, later moving to London. She made her UK debut in 1979, with the Hallé Orchestra, her US debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, under Solti, and her London Promenade Concerts debut in 1985. She has performed the Brahms Concerto with the Philadelphia Orchestra, under Muti. Her recordings include the solo violin works of Ysaÿe and Bach, and concertos by Moeran, Prokofiev, and Bruch.
