Morelos| State of central Mexico; area 4,941 sq km/ 1,908 sq mi; population (2000 est) 1,552,900. Its capital is Cuernavaca. The state is located on the southern slope of the Central Plateau and the variety of climates at different altitudes has helped the development of a thriving agriculture. The main occupation is farming, producing maize, rice, wheat, coffee, and sugar-cane. |
