Morison, Stanley

Morison, Stanley (1889–1967)

English typographical expert and bibliographer. As adviser to the Monotype Corporation from 1923, where he initiated a programme in type design, and in similar positions at the Cambridge University Press and The Times, he transformed the appearance of printed matter.

His published works include Four Centuries of Fine Printing (1924), The English Newspaper 1622–1932 (1932), First Principles of Typography (1936), The Art of Printing (1938), and The Typographic Book 1450–1935 (1963).
